 The foundation stone for the new Church was laid by the then Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas Episcopa on 7th June 1996. The first own church building of the Mar Thoma Church in the Arabian Gulf area was consecrated by Most Rev. Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Metropolitan on 26th September 1997 in the presence of Rt. Rev. Dr. Euyakim Mar Coorilos and Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas. Our long cherished dream of worshiping in our own church building in the Middle East came into reality when His Lordship Rt. Rev Joseph Mar Barnabas Episcopa celebrated the first Holy Communion service at the new church on Sunday 28th September 1997.
 Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Memorial Parish Hall and parsonage was dedicated on 23rd March 2001 by the then Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Euyakim Mar Coorilos Episcopa. One more parish hall was dedicated by the Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Geevarghese Mar Athanasius on 29th June 2007.
Our in-house groups like Parish Mission, Sevika Sangam, Yuvajana Sakhyam, Choir, Sunday school and Teenagers Forum strengthen the growth of our church. Our church on the whole is working in conjunction with the in-house groups, offers specialised assistance to the members, the poor and the needy via grant support and undertake a variety of projects and training programmes. |
Sharjah Marthoma Parish was founded in 1978 in UAE. In our 28 years of time we proudly announce that we are the 1st Marthoma Parish in the Middle East to construct a church of our own. Sharjah Parish has started with a small number of people, now our membership consist about 1500 families. We have constructed our own church building with a parish hall and a parsonage in the same compound. Now the approval is being granted for the construction of an extra prayer hall in the same church compound.
